Thought For The Week: Who & Why

When giving your elevator pitch, keep these two things in mind. Let people know WHO you are and WHY you do what you do. Let them feel your passion to help, the passion you have for your product, with it's benefits to the professionals listening and their friends and family. The feelings you create are so much more powerful than the statistics you can rattle off. Please, remember you have 30 seconds or less to present a professional message.

Thought for the Week: Subconscious

For many years I have listened to the CD by Tony Robbins / Hour of Power while exercising. And now, I repeat the phrases learned & created at random during the day but ALWAYS in the morning. There are two I particularly like:

    1. Every day in every way "I AM" (keep repeating)
  • kinder & kinder
  • healthier & healthier
  • stronger & stronger
  • smarter & smarter
    2. All I need is within me now (repeat All)
  • the LOVE I need is within me now
  • the tenacity I need is within me now
  • the generosity I need is within me now

Have fun & make up your own words, feelings, challenges, goals, etc. When you say them  - 


Train your brain to think these thoughts automatically. To become part of your subconscious and therefore part of -

OK - this week is the 5th week of the month & that makes it slow at the club without our 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th week meeting schedule, so stop by & say hello! Thought for the Week: Goals

You're leaving an event you just attended with the goal to build your business by meeting some new contacts. Was it successful? You got a pocket full of business cards. Was that really your overall goal? Now what? Was one or two of those cards from people you set follow up one on one appointments, or were any of them possible ideal clients, or maybe someone who has a service YOU might need? It's hard to judge without specific attainable goals set before you attended the event.

That way you KNOW you did what you wanted to do. So, next time - - Set some goals - - I am going to meet X number of new contacts,  - - I am going to set X number of one on one appointmemts, - - I am going to introduce a new contact to one of my contacts, etc. Next time give it a try, go to the event on purpose, with a plan and some preset goals. You just might discover that yes, YES, it was a success because you accomplished ALL of your goals.

Thought for the Week: Stories

Don't you just love a good story? I mean, doesn't everyone? What's your story? When asked why you do what you do, or what got you started in your current career, is your answer "I needed a job they offered" or "I like working numbers and became an accountant". I'll bet there is a story behind either of those or the thousand other possibilities. So, sit back and remember your story.

Now make it a "Readers Digest Condensed Version" (showing my age a bit there). Short, interesting and of course true. Try a couple answers like that and judge the response. And, don't you usually remember a good story? Don't you want to be remembered? OK! Go out there this week and enjoy telling your story and being remembered!

Thought for the Week: Giving

giving to othersA great habit to have, giving. Try it. Go to your next networking event where your number one goal is to help someone. I'll bet, if you are successful, you will experience a wonderful feeling of satisfaction. A feeling you will want to repeat again and again. The awesome thing about this is it's a win-win situation because after awhile you will be NOTICED and you will build the reputation as a GIVER. A pretty good reputation to have and a habit that will BUILD your business. Yes, GIVE & YOU SHALL RECEIVE! The real secret though, is to give without any expectation of return. Just give and give and the miracles will happen. It's universal law.

Thought for the Week: Curiosity

curiosity killed the catI have mentioned many times about asking questions to keep yourself listening and learning about your new contact. I even have a white paper with a variety of questions as examples to use to keep yourself focused. But the truth is, you don't need that! If you are truly curious - yes, curious - that curiosity will fuel your questions with a true wanting to learn, adding a natural comfort level with the person you are communicating with, creating a huge step forward in the relationship building progress. Curiosity may have killed the cat but it helps create referral partners.
